February 26 & 27, 2010 First Course in Fundraising

Date:  Friday February 26 & Saturday February 27, 2010

Time:  8:00 a.m. – 4:30 p.m. Friday, 9:00 a.m. – 5:30 p.m. Saturday

Location: Stanley A. Milner Library - 6th Floor, 7 Sir Winston Churchill Square, Edmonton

Cost:  AFP Members: $375, Non-Members: $425

 

Gain an overview of fundraising fundamentals while meeting other professionals involved in Edmonton’s fundraising sector. Fundraisers, volunteers, and board members from non-profit organizations will learn the basics to help ensure success in fundraising and fundraising management. At the same time, connect with other professionals - students and instructors - to build your own network.

 

Course content will cover key areas including:

§       Introduction to Fundraising and Development – an overview of the profession and the role of fundraisers in the non-profit sector

§       Planning for Successful Fundraising – strategic planning, implementation, campaign review

§       Annual Giving – tools, methods, and execution of successful campaigns

§       The Integrated Development Program – organizing various fundraising programs within your organization

§       Major Gifts – identifying, qualifying, cultivation, soliciting, and stewarding donors

§       The Role of Volunteers, Boards and CEOs – recruitment, best practices, ethics and issues

§       Obtaining Grant Support – foundations, corporations, government, and other sources

§       Operating a Development Office – budgeting, priorities, management of fundraising programs, analyzing financial data

 

If you are interested in fund raising as a career, are already working in the field and have less than three year’s experience, are a non-profit board member, or you are a volunteer involved in fundraising, register now for the AFP First Course in Fundraising. Seating is limited, so early registrations are recommended.
