The AFP Ethics Committee carries out the enforcement process if there is an alleged violation of the Code that is supported by a formal complaint and sufficient documentation. If efforts to persuade the person to cease and desist have failed, the Committee may decide to hold a hearing to determine whether a violation of the Code has occurred and decide what disciplinary action, if any is appropriate.
Penalties for violation of the Code include:
- A letter of reprimand.
- Censure and prohibition against holding Association and chapter office or participating in AFP activities for one year.
- Suspension of membership and prohibition against participation in AFP activities for a stated period.
- Permanent revocation of membership, including recommendation to withdraw any AFP sanctioned credential.
